Relay Altar
4 avr. 2023
After months of extensive creative work that served to refine the company's business model, we officially announce that our project has finally begun.
Departure from the construction site
Following a public tender process, a general contractor from the sector won the contract. Almost a neighbor! In fact, it is Construction Blackburn et fils , based in Saint-Coeur-de-Marie, who will carry out the work. Their mandate: to turn this church into a 10-room hotel. A great challenge with a reasonable deadline since we hope to welcome the first customers at the beginning of July of this year.
For hotel rooms, the use of technologies will allow an automated mode of operation. Guests will be able, among other things, to enter their rooms and do their complete “check in” via their cell phone. There will be no reception as such in our hotel.
The total investment in the project is around $2.3 million and includes financial support of $800,000 from the Government of Quebec.
The spirit of construction
Changing the use of a 1938 church comes with its share of challenges. “A few months ago, I knew next to nothing about construction. It’s amazing how much this project, which is far from the easiest, has taught me! I’m on a real “Fast Track” and I’ll keep these skills for life! Now I’m really looking forward to putting on my white helmet and implementing the concrete work to bring my vision to life.” says the young 23-year-old owner, Vincent Lavoie.
Eco-construction efforts will be put forward by the entire team. In addition to recovering the buildings already constructed, we will revalue and integrate into the development materials and objects relating to the history of the church and second-hand. In addition to being a good gesture for the environment, this is what will ensure the signature atmosphere at the Autel-Relais.
Saint-Crème Dairy Bar
As for the Saint-Crème Bar Laitier, the reopening will take place as soon as possible. We hope for mid-June, in the establishment's brand new kitchen. Of course, we will keep you informed of the schedule.
“The experience we have managed to create at Saint-Crème is in no way comparable to many other creameries in Quebec. Here, people take the time to enjoy in this enchanting place and socialize on the steps of the church. It is a real activity and something other than eating your soft cream quickly on the side of a busy road or in the car,” explains enthusiastically Vincent Lavoie, owner.
The first year of operation was a real success. During events, such as the Christmas market or the visit of the Prime Minister, customers could queue up outside to get a cone.
Summer 2023 will also see more collaborations with local producers and more special events. The dairy bar will still offer a special or themed recipe each week and the mochi bar in several flavors.
