Bagels in Easter water!

The Holy Cream

29 mars 2024

Saint-Crème is inspired by a centuries-old tradition for its Easter bagel production. This year, all bagels on Sunday, March 31 will be boiled in Easter water! “A first that we want to continue year after year!” says Vincent Lavoie of Saint-Crème.

It will be remembered that for thousands of years, therapeutic and even miraculous properties have been attributed to water drawn on Easter morning from a spring of living water. This water is said to be beneficial for treating eczema and acne as well as for relieving fever or even countering aging. It is said to protect against violent winds, destructive storms and lightning. What more could you ask for!

Once again, the Saint-Crème defines itself as a savior of traditions. Already, by creating in this former church a creamery, a 10-room hotel and a sandwich shop that has preserved many artifacts and entire sections of the old building, the owners, Vincent Lavoie and Ariane Tremblay have proven their attachment and respect for the past. "Our attachment to these traditions has nothing religious about it. It goes beyond all that. For us, these traditions are great opportunities to bring together the people we love around an activity. It existed yesterday, we want it to still exist today. Nothing is stronger than creating magical moments that we will remember all our lives!"

For the Easter Water Bagels operation, water will be drawn early in the morning from a spring and then boiled vigorously. You will be able to follow this work and the production of these Easter bagels on the Saint-Crème Facebook page this Sunday.

Let us point out that the kettle in the kitchens of the Saint-Crème is placed in the same place where the holy water font used to be. The bagels are therefore in turn "blessed" in their own way, exactly where the priest blessed the newborns.

Saint-Crème now also offers brioches in two styles, Catholic and Protestant, in a nod to the diversity of parishioners of this church in Isle-Maligne. This is where the concept imagined by the young owner takes on its full meaning in the smallest details.
