To mark the 100th anniversary of the former town of Isle-Maligne in style, Saint-Crème, in collaboration with the citizens' committee, will light up two enormous Christmas trees for this year's Christmas celebrations.

The owner and founder of Saint-Crème, Vincent Lavoie, won two honours at the Gala des Lauréats of the Lac-Saint-Jean-Est Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Saint-Crème is the winner of the “Reuse d’un bâtiment patrimoine 2024” award issued by the Conseil du Patrimoine Religieux du Québec. The award was presented to its young 25-year-old owner, Vincent Lavoie, on September 19 in Rivière-du-Loup, during the annual Forum on Religious Heritage.

It was in a packed Saint-Crème on Thursday in Alma that Tourisme Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean invited the various stakeholders in the field to unveil the recent additions to its offering.

Saint-Crème is inspired by a centuries-old tradition for its Easter bagel production. This year, all bagels on Sunday, March 31 will be boiled in Easter water! “A first that we want to continue year after year!” says Vincent Lavoie of Saint-Crème.

Young Alma entrepreneur Vincent Lavoie never ceases to amaze us with his ambitious project to give a second life to the old Isle-Maligne church in Alma. In addition to the 10-room hotel section, called the Autel-Relais, its food court on the ground floor is richer than ever.

After 66 years of marriage, Almatois Huguette Bouchard and Maurice Dufour had a unique experience. They returned to relive their wedding night in the suite of the Autel-Relais Saint-Crème located in the old church of Isle-Maligne where they were married in 1957.

A year after opening the Saint-Crème Bar Laitier in a former church in Alma, Vincent Lavoie stands out once again with an original concept.

The young entrepreneur is preparing to open a hotel in the former place of worship. The reconversion of the historic building is surprising.

Last night was the 25th OSEntreprendre Desjardins Grands Prix gala. The Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region was well represented and Vincent Lavoie’s project, Autel-Relais and Saint-Crème Bar Laitier, stood out from the crowd. The 24-year-old entrepreneur is taking home $20,000 in grants.

"If I remember one thing from my conversations and meetings, it's that we have talent in Quebec, and ambitious young people who are charging ahead in life to make their way. Young people like Vincent Lavoie, whose entrepreneurial spirit really impressed me."

After months of extensive creative work that served to refine the company's business model, we officially announce that our project has finally begun.

"After calling the election in the morning and meeting the media in the riding of Montmorency, in Quebec City, the leader of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ), François Legault, went to the Le Saint-Crème dairy bar in Lac-Saint-Jean. For the occasion, he was accompanied by candidates Éric Girard (Lac-Saint-Jean), Andrée Laforest (Chicoutimi) and Nancy Guillemette (Roberval)."

$2.3 million will be invested to give a second life to the Sainte-Marie de l’Isle-Maligne church in Alma. The investment is significant, as is the transformation project. In less than a year, the church will become a hotel ready to welcome tourists for the summer of 2023.
